Inland Sea is a large-scale abstract landscape with expressive brushwork and mark making. It contrasts the warm colors of the desert with vivid blues, warm whites and cool gray tones. A dark form in the foreground and a half-moon shape in the upper right give the scene a sense of conscious presence. Gestural brushstrokes express a briny atmosphere, with colored pencil marks and primitive symbolic shapes emerging in the fore-ground. It is painted on un-stretched heavy canvas which can be stretched over a canvas stretcher frame for hanging. I sell many of my paintings un-stretched in order to maintain a lower price, which includes free shipping within the US.
The painting was made with acrylic paint and colored pencil on canvas. The texture of the canvas adds a richness of detail to the surface.
