  • My inspiration often begins with photos gathered on walks and wanderings; my interests ranging from dilapidated buildings and architecture to nature and wildlife, or whatever catches my eye!

In the studio I explore these themes using collage, mono-printing, painting and image transfer techniques. My process begins in a fairly arbitrary manner; building up layers of collage using vintage books, old letters and newspapers.  Layers of paint and other mark making media are then loosely applied using brushes and various tools, leaving some of the collaged text and type visible. Working intuitively, I gradually incorporate selected photographic elements as collage or image transfer. I am especially drawn to the juxtaposition of the ‘photographic’  with the ‘painterly’ layers, and the way they can create intrigue and surprise!

I regularly exhibit in Cambridge, taking part in Cambridge Open Studios and as an elected member of the Cambridge Drawing Society.  In 2015 I was commissioned by Wetherspoon's to create two large artworks for a new premises in Huntingdon. In 2020 three of my artworks were selected for the annual national ING Discerning Eye Exhibition.
